The ventilation system manufacturer Ziehl-Abegg (ZA) has won an Innovation Award in Asia. This German company was also voted as the most innovative manufacturer of 2014 by China Refrigeration Organization.

The award was presented in the first Asian exhibition for refrigeration, air conditioning, heating and ventilation. The ventilation system ZAplus, which has already won several other awards is mainly used in supermarkets, hotels and refrigeration.

1,100 companies from over 30 countries participated in the event dubbed China Refrigeration Expo. The majority of them have engaged in the competition for the prize of the best quality from China Refrigeration Organization. In the category of heating and ventilating equipment, Ziehl-Abegg was the only manufacturer that managed to convince the jury with one of its products. In the case of ZAplus fan system, members of the Commission have highlighted four main reasons for this choice: the high level of system efficiency, low sound, reliability and flexibility.

The compact ventilation system ZAplus won the Innovative Product of the Year in Shanghai. General manager Peter Fenkl was pleased with the company’s success by being the only fan manufacturer to receive an award at this international event. Jason Liu, CEO of Ziehl-Abegg in China said that “China Refrigeration Organization has honoured us with the Innovation Award for the intelligent design of the complete system ZAplus”.

The system includes the fan, motor and control in a single compact unit high strength composite material. This technique optimizes the flow of air and avoids the use of an unnecessary packaging material. In the design of the blade, the developers were inspired by the wing of an owl – the quietest bird of prey. Spikes were added at the rear edge of the fan blade and a bend on the top edge in order to reduce the sound of the instrument. This system can easily save at least 25% of electricity consumption.

The ZAplus system saves a significant amount of energy. This feature allows it to set a new benchmark in terms of efficiency. Its performance goes beyond the requirements of the EU Directive for energy-related products (ERP). Last summer, the ZAplus was also chosen as the Fan of the Year at the International Plus X Awards. These prizes contributed to the increase in global enterprise sales.
