Carrier partners earn top marks
UK – Carrier Transicold UK have published the results of their 2015 “Carrier Safe” awards for network service partners in the UK and Ireland. The results reveal that Carrier’s network partners averaged scores of 91 per cent in the programme, while two firms – Hull-based Carrier Transicold East & North Yorkshire and Ipswich-based Carrier Transicold Eastern – achieved the highest scores in the 150-point independent health and safety development programme.
The “Carrier Safe” awards scheme is an Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) development programme which was created by Carrier Transicold in 2011 in conjunction with the Engineering Employers’ Federation (EEF), an organisation that supports the manufacturing and engineering industries with professional training and advice services. The programme has been designed with the aim of reinforcing a commitment to EH&S best practices across the network. The EEF is responsible for carrying out independent annual reviews of all UK and Irish service partners based on a comprehensive set of criteria regarding EH&S practices.
“Our focus on EH&S is a cornerstone of our business, both as a manufacturer and as an employer,” stated the managing director of Carrier Transicold, Northern Europe and Service EMEAR, Scott Dargan. “We developed ‘Carrier Safe’ to continually challenge our service partners and ensure they meet the highest safety standards, targeting a zero accident rate.”
“Working closely with the EEF, we assess the performance of each service partner, and then agree on plans to continually develop and improve these standards,” continued Dargan. “Since we launched Carrier Safe in 2011, the average score across the network has risen year-to-year by more than six per cent. This means our customers can be assured they are supported by refrigeration professionals who have been extensively trained and adhere to a strict code of practice.”
“Carrier Safe” serves to highlight any areas where EH&S standards can be improved and also rewards the best performing service partners with the chance to re-invest into their own safety programmes. This year’s winners, Carrier Transicold East & North Yorkshire and Carrier Transicold Eastern, have each received an additional cash bonus which will be invested in further training with the EEF.
