TEGA signs blending rights agreement
USA – Technische Gase und Gasetechnik (TEGA) GmbH, a subsidiary of the Linde Group, has acquired the rights to blend the climate-friendly, ASHRAE-listed hydrocarbon refrigerants HCR188C/R441A and HCR188C/R443A after signing an agreement with A. S. Trust & Holdings, Inc. By signing this agreement TEGA, whose headquarters are located in Wurzburg, Germany, will now have exclusive blending rights within the European Union. TEGA have already started work to update their blending facility in order to obtain the ETL safety certificate from Intertek Germany with production expected to begin within 30 days.
Both HCR188C/R441A, which is used as a substitute for R134A refrigerant, and HCR188C/R443A, which can replace R22 refrigerant, are both patented and trademarked zero-ozone-depleting/extremely low global-warming-potential (GWP) hydrocarbon blends. The Hawaiian businessman and inventor, Richard Maruya, working for A.S. Trust & Holdings, invented and developed the formulations of the two hydrocarbon refrigerants over the course of the last fifteen years. has many different uses, including being used in vending machines, household models of refrigerators, stand-alone freezers and window-air-conditioners, and commercial models of refrigerators, freezers and stand-alone refrigerated display cases. Many other uses are envisaged for HCR188C/R441A and applications have been submitted seeking authorization for its use in motor-vehicle air-conditioning systems, refrigerated transport (refrigerated trucks and shipping containers), and residential models of heat-pumps, portable room air-conditioners and split-system air-conditioning units.
