FRANCE – Several monuments throughout France and the world were today lit up to mark the entry of the Paris climate agreement, adopted on 12 December 2015 at the time of cop 21 in Paris, into the statutes of many constituent members of the Cop 21. The Paris agreement which necessitated the ratification of 80 countries to definitively enter the law books has now been enshrined in the constitution of most major nations .

This ratification of the Paris agreement is cery appropriate and comes at the right time, since it will be on November 7th that the COP22, which will be held this year in Marrakech, will begin.

To celebrate the ratification, the presidency of COP21 launched an operation on social networks this Friday, with the hashtag #SmileForThePlanet.

In Paris, the Eiffel Tower and many monuments were lit up “in the colors of the environment”, while Morocco did the same to announce the arrival of the COP22.

After a COP21 that some have considered decisive, as it has seen the establishment of a global framework agreement on climate, COP22 is expected to take a little more action, especially since the conference is held in Africa.
The conference will begin this Monday, November 7 and end on Friday, November 18, 2016.
