EUROPE – ALFA LAVAL brought a whole new dimension of chill to Chillventa 2014 with their new industrial air cooler, the Arctigo. This equipment is suitable for use with the natural refrigerant R744 (CO2). The Arctigo is a line designed to keep fresh and frozen goods refrigerated at a range of temperatures from 10°C to – 40 ° C. The highly adaptable nature of the Arctigo means that it can solve various problems and is the perfect blend of ALFA LAVAL’s creativity, experience and technological know-how.

ALFA LAVAL’s Arctigo IS is a range of simple discharge air coolers for cooling and freezing applications in medium and large cold rooms. It has a rated capacity of 3 to 250kW and can achieve design pressures between 30 and 60 bars when using CO2.

A versatile range and a modular concept
The Arctigo’s versatility ensures that it can be used in many different applications ranging from keeping products fresh to freezing meat, fish and poultry. In addition, it can be optimized for use in processing chambers and distribution centers. This is achieved in part due to the flexibility of its fitting, which can accommodate several different fan casing and hood positions.
The flexibility of the Arctigo IS range also stems from its ability to be configured with square or triangular pitched coils. Squares pitchs are ideal for applications that demand the relative humidity to be kept high, as they enhance the surface area for less defrosting, longer cooling periods, lower air drop pressure and lower fan power consumption. Triangular pitches, on the other hand, result in a lower fin temperature and greater capacity per m² of the coil surface, which allows for a more compact cooler design.

Minute details such as the frequency of door opening and the position of air coolers can be taken into account during installation to ensure optimal performance.
