Carrier unveil new smart thermostat
USA – Carrier have today announced that their smart thermostat, the Infinity control, is now compatible with the company’s geothermal heating and cooling solutions, in a move which should provide convenience, cost savings and long-term sustainability to its customers. This announcement means that two of Carrier’s most sustainable products in home comfort now work together in a solution, which the company claim has been designed to increase convenience and save homeowners money.
Carrier state that a system combining the Infinity control with the company’s geothermal solutions may allow customers to reduce their heating and cooling costs by up to 70%, in addition to the extra convenience of being controlled from anywhere with an Internet-connected device.
“Carrier recognizes the savvy homeowner is looking for a heating and cooling system that can provide long-term savings through energy-conscious design that also offers the convenience of being connected,” commented the vice president of marketing for Carrier residential HVAC, Matthew Pine. “Our vision has been realized in the combination of our proven Infinity control with our efficient geothermal solution.”
Carrier’s geothermal system combines the Earth’s natural energy for heating and cooling in tandem with an air handler unit normally located in a basement, crawl space or utility closet for a solution designed to deliver sustainable home comfort.
Carrier claim that the installation of the Infinity control is made easier by the system’s self-configuration which should ensure faster setup and commissioning, while the in-built Ideal Humidity System technology has been designed for optimum comfort. Another feature of the system is that it allows for personalised comfort with up to eight zones of comfort control.
