ebm-papst launch new axial fans
WORLD – The German-based fan specialist, ebm-papst, have recently extended their AxiCool range of axial fans for evaporators. The product range now includes new sizes – 500, 630 and 800 – which have been designed for use with high-performance evaporators and air coolers in the commercial and industrial cooling sectors. The company claims that the new units are suitable for use in large cold storage facilities and the refrigerated warehouses and production rooms used in the food processing and food industries.
The company also revealed that they had chosen to employ the system approach when developing the new AxiCool fans, with all of the individual fan components matched in an attempt to achieve maximum benefits in terms of efficiency, output and noise. The company state that the end result is an energy-efficient plug & play unit with low noise generation that is ready to install.
The new AxiCool series has been designed to deliver efficient cooling even when fan efficiency is reduced due to heat exchangers becoming iced over. Ebm-papst have also claimed that the fan’s integrated diffuser and discharge vane combination should increase efficiency by over 30%, delivering up to a 12% increase in air performance while reducing noise by up to 3 dB(A).
It has also been disclosed that this efficiency-boosting discharge vane has been integrated in all AxiCool variants, while a cable provides easy, standard connection. An additional feature is that a heating tape may be connected via an optional terminal box, which means that the heating tape can be retrofitted very easily when needed. All the new fan sizes are available with or without a fan housing cover, depending on the user’s needs. The high-end variant, complete with the fan housing cover, offers an advantage when the hygiene requirements are rigorous, since its smooth surfaces attract fewer contaminants and are easier to clean. Another potential advantage of this model is that a defrost bag can easily be attached to the exterior of the fan housing cover.
All of the models may be used for temperatures as low as -40 °C as standard and are both durable and compact, due to the external rotor fan design. The company have announced that their new fans will be available in all sizes as 1-phase and 3-phase AC variants and with efficient GreenTech EC technology from summer 2016.
