Limiting CO2 Emissions in Supermarkets
USA – Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc. have recently announced the launch of its Life Cycle Climate Performance (LCCP) Online Calculator for supermarket designers and engineers.
The company claims that the LCCP calculator is a Web-based tool which will allow users to compare different supermarket system architectures which use a variety of refrigerants. The device can be used to calculate annual power, total annual CO2 emissions and peak power, and should also be capable of providing recommendations to users.
“The LCCP software will be a valuable tool for supermarkets interested in limiting their CO2 footprint and will be able to provide an apples-to-apples comparison on the environmental impact of a given supermarket system,” announced Mike Saunders, director, end user technical sales and support, Emerson Climate Technologies.
The configurable tool will enable the user to enter suitable operating conditions to make comparisons with similar stores. The company claim that a large number of system types can be analyzed using the tool, including centralized direct expansion, distributed, cascade, secondary and booster CO2. Comparisons can also be made for different refrigerant types such as R404A, R407A, R410A, R134a and CO2.
